+What is Creative Problem Solving (CPS)?
Creative problem solving (CPS) is a method and approach used to tackle challenges and find innovative solutions to problems. It involves thinking "outside the box" and employing unconventional and imaginative strategies to address complex issues or obstacles. Creative problem solving (CPS) typically includes various stages, such as identifying the problem, generating multiple ideas, evaluating and refining those ideas, and implementing the most effective solution. (Isaken, Dorval & Treffinger, 2000)
+What is Dr. H’s approach to Problem Solving?
Dr. H combines Biblical Principles with academic studies and theories of Creative Problem solving processes, to address obstacles and/or hindrances and lead you into fulfilling your God given purpose and solving problems with excellence.
+What kind of problems do you help with?
The beauty of the Creative Problem Solving Process is that it is not biased. It is a strategy that can take on any challenge as long as you are willing to put the work in. Within each of us is the answer to every challenge we face, my job is to show you how powerful you are and facilitate your ability to overcome.
+Do you solve the problem for me?
I do better than that. I teach you the tools that equip and empower you to not only work through your current issue/goal, but any other issue that comes your way.
+How many sessions do I need?
Every issue and every individual is different. We work together to create goals at each stage and work toward them. You can decide at any time when you believe you have all the tools you need to continue on your own.
+What if I know I have a problem but I’m not sure what it is or, I can’t really articulate what it is?
This is very common and nothing to be worried about or ashamed of. The first stage, the Unravel stage is where we work together to get to a place where we can clearly articulate the issue. I will take you through a series of questions in our discussion to get to the root of what we need to tackle. (See Dr. H’s 7 problem solving steps as a sneak peak to what is involved in the CPS process).
+How long is an individual session?
50 minutes
+How many sessions will I need?
There is no clear cut number of sessions. Each challenge is unique and in some cases you will be able to tackle some stages on your own. In other cases we will work through the entire process together.
+Are you a licensed psychotherapist?
I am not a licensed psychotherapist and I do not practice therapy.
+What’s the difference between you and a coach?
At various stages of the CPS Process, I take on the role of an accountability coach, however, as a Consultant, I am sharing and teaching you from my expertise in Creativity and Problem Solving. I share knowledge and advice from my experience and background, whereas a coach is usually focused on facilitating growth and empowerment in a particular area.
+What’s the difference between you and a therapist?
Therapists are licensed and trained in various specific methods of therapy to address emotional and mental issues. I do not facilitate therapy sessions. My sessions do not focus on exploring feelings and emotions. We do work together to properly identify the issue, which does involve some focused exploration, however, my approach is action focused, and together we identify the issues, set goals and achieve them.
+What are your qualifications and what areas do you specialize in?
I have a PhD in Psychology with a focus on Creative Expression, Identity and Conflict Resolution.
+Do you give advice?
Yes. I am working with you as an expert in Creative Problem Solving, so I will advise on each stage, provide exercises, questions and methodologies to facilitate your problem solving power.
+Do you have group sessions that I can join?
